Using the PCN Regulation utility

You use the PCN Regulation utility to set up effective beginning and ending dates for a PCN (position control number). The PCN is used for budget checking purposes.

Complete the following steps to use the PCN Regulation utility.

  1. Open the window by typing HRUTPC in the Search field and pressing Enter.
  2. Select Add (+).
  3. Complete the following fields:
  4. Entity: Enter an entity ID for which the utility is performed.
  5. PCN: Enter a PCN. If you enter an exact PCN, this utility runs only for that PCN. If you enter a partial PCN plus an asterisk or wild card ("%"), this utility runs for all the entries that have a PCN matching this selection. For example, COLO* runs for all PCNs that start with COLO. If you enter an asterisk or wild card ("%") in the PCN field, this utility selects every PCN. Other selection criteria, such as the position or date selection, can be used in conjunction to narrow the search.
  6. Position: Enter a position number. If you enter an exact position number, this utility runs only for that position. If you enter a partial position number plus an asterisk or wild card ("%"), this utility runs for all the entries that have a position number matching this selection. For example, COLO* runs for all positions that start with COLO. If you enter just an asterisk or wild card ("%") in the Position field, this utility selects every position number. Other selection criteria, such as position control number or date selection, can be used in conjunction to narrow the search.
  7. Old Effective Dates: Enter the old beginning and ending dates the utility will use to match records from the database.  Only those with the same effective beginning and ending dates are selected.
  8. As of Date: Enter a date in this field to search for any entries that have an effective beginning date less than or equal to the as of date and an effective ending date larger than or equal to the as of date.
  9. New Effective Dates: Enter the new beginning and ending dates the utility will use to match records from the database.  Only those with the same effective beginning and ending dates are selected.
  10. Adjust Budget by FTE: Select whether to adjust the budget by the full-time equivalent calculation.
  11. Adjust Budget by AMT: Select whether to adjust the budget by the amount.
  12. Adjust Budget by APU: Select whether to adjust the budget by the allocated person units calculation.
  13. Run By: Displays the user ID of the last person to run the PCN Regulation utility.
  14. Run Date: Date the PCN Regulation utility was run last.
  1. Select Save Changes.

 Result: When you select Save Changes, the PCN Regulation utility updates all the records that meet the selection criteria.
