Setting up establishment codes

Shortcut/mask: HRWCES

Each year the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) collects work-related injury and illness data from employers within specific industry and employment size specifications. The data provided is used by OSHA to calculate establishment specific injury and illness incidence rates.

Establishment codes are used for the purpose of OSHA data tracking and reporting.

Complete the following steps to add an establishment code.

  1. Open the window by typing HRWCES in the Search field and pressing Enter.
  2. Select Add (+).
  3. Complete the following fields:
  4. Code: Enter the unique combination of letters or numbers you want to use to define this code.
  5. Name: Enter the name of the location or entity you are tracking, such as "Airport."
  6. Description: Enter the text you want to use to describe this establishment.
  1. Enter the following demographic information:
  2. Address
  3. City
  4. State
  5. Zip code and extension, if available
  6. Phone number and extension
  1. Complete the following fields:
  2. Policy # - Enter the number of the workers' compensation claim. This number is provided for you by the insurance company when you establish the claim.
  3. Industry Description: Enter a description of your organization, such as "Municipal government."
  4. Standard Industrial Classification: Enter a code to describe your industry. Standard industrial classification codes are defined by the U.S. government. Refer to OSHA.gov or your Human Resources department for the code that identifies your organization.
  5. SUI Account # - Enter the state unemployment insurance number assigned to your organization.
  6. Type of Employer: Enter a user-defined code that identifies what type of employer this code applies to, such as:
  7. State
  8. County
  9. City
  10. Town
  11. Education district
  12. Other Government: If the Type of Employer field does not apply to this establishment code, type a description of the agency.
  1. Select Save Changes or press Enter.

Result: You have added a Workers' Compensation establishment code for OSHA tracking information on HRWCOD.
